Based upon the free Love Basket pattern from the lovely Lisa at u-handbag may I present to you the Ladybird Love Basket!
I didn’t want something quite so structured so I skipped the heavyweight sew-in interlining, but I have to say I rather love this bag, it’s the first bag I’ve sewn that has actually turned out well 😀
The fabric is from Robert Kaufmans Cool Cords collection, I do like a nice bit of cord fabric! The lining is something I stumbled across in my local C&H store long after I purchased the cord fabric online and wondeirng what I should pair it with.
This was also my first project using the rotary cutter and self healing cutting mat I got for my birthday and I have to say I loved using them for this, everything came out so much neater and prettier. I am convinced they are what made the difference between this bag and the others I have tried. Or it could also be down to Lisa’s clear and picture-tastic instructions!
Also as there was a little fabric leftover and I enjoyed the rotary cutter so much, I crafted a little matching coin purse (you can just about make it out in the top photo).
The Cath Kidston sewing box was another birthday present and is now the lovely home for the sweet rotary cutter. Feel the love!
